Meet The Author

I’ve spent seventeen years in disability accessibility, first volunteering in the Deaf community, then earning my degree in ASL/English Interpreting, and continuing with a Master’s in Public Administration so I could leverage my experience to serve the disability community in government services. I’ve seen firsthand how ignorance and indifference can hurt real people in real ways. I’ve watched well-meaning folks accidentally cause harm because they didn’t know better. And I’ve felt that same overwhelming sense that we’re all just trying to keep our heads above water.

Hope Punk: A Genre of Defiant Optimism

Audacious, spunky, hard-earned HOPE is what each of us needs to find one another and build a community that uplifts. Not the toxic positivity kind that ignores real problems. Not the naive optimism that pretends everything will magically fix itself. But the rebellious, determined hope that says, "I see the darkness, and I'm going to light a candle anyway."

My fiction features overlooked, seemingly powerless characters who become the heroes of their own stories. They're not chosen ones with magical destinies. They are people like us who push forward, hoping to make a difference even when the odds are stacked against them. And along the way, they discover something crucial:

They're not alone.

My stories can and will encourage you to find ways to make a difference, even in small ways. You'll see yourself as hero material and seek opportunities to become that person. Don't just see the good, BE the good.

Even small acts matter. Your voice counts. Even you can push back against the darkness.

Feeling isolated and powerless is how darkness wins.

Understanding Matters

Why Ignorance About Disability Isn't Bliss

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: ignorance is NOT bliss. Remaining uneducated about disability, accessibility, and the struggles of marginalized communities can lead you to hurt people in real ways.

You can be ableist without even knowing it. Ignoring or “not seeing” disabilities doesn’t make the situation better. It makes you a jerk. On the other hand, you can try to be helpful and go overboard, becoming a saccharine “do-gooder” who makes a bad situation worse. But you don’t have to stay stuck in that place. You can learn. You can grow. You can become the person who actually makes a positive difference.

My stories are your escape and your inspiration. They’re proof that hope isn’t naive. It’s rebellious. It’s powerful. And it’s exactly what we need right now. If you’re seeking hope that the better world you thought was possible is still out there, I’m here to tell you: It is.

But it won’t build itself.

It needs people like you. People who want to SEE the good and BE the good in a discouraging (and sometimes scary) world. People who care. People who are tired of the chaos but refuse to give up.
